Publications
Mheccu faculty and staff regularly produce research and statistical
reports, reference and training manuals, books and journal articles, to
advance theory and practice in mental health services. Highlights of
recent Mheccu publications are presented in this section.
Paper copies of these publications are distributed at the completion of
the project and we do not maintain inventory. However, you may download
and print material from this section for your non-commercial use and in
keeping with the UBC copyright
policy.
Children's Mental Health publications can now be found under the Children's Mental
Health Program.

Antidepressant Skills

Dealing with Depression:
Antidepressant Skills for Teens
| |
|
Dealing with Depression is a workbook for teens that
explains depression and teaches three antidepressant skills you can
use to help overcome or prevent it. The skills are presented in a
step-by-step way so you can learn them easily and apply them to your
life. Sometimes these antidepressant skills can be used on their
own, when the mood problem isn't too severe, and sometimes they have
to be used along with treatments by professionals. Either way,
practicing these antidepressant skills will help you deal more
effectively with low mood and depression.
3 ways to use this book:
1. Download it to your computer. You'll need Adobe Reader.
(If you don't have that program, download it free from http://www.adobe.com/reader/)
Then, download Dealing with Depression from the link below.
You'll be able to read it over, send copies to your friends,
whatever. But some parts of the book ask you to write things down --
use a notebook or journal for the writing parts.
2. Print a copy. Once you download the file, this is easy.
But notice that the book is pretty long, about 67 pages, so you
might want to print it in sections, as you read each part. If your
printer does double-sided printing, that will make the book easier
to carry around; if it prints in colour, that's even better.
3. Save a "writable" version of the manual. Some people
prefer to use this book on their computer, including the writing
parts. So, to use this, you will need to have Acrobat Reader 6 or
7 (download it from Adobe from the link above). If you open the
DWD file with it, you'll be able to use the book, write in it and
save what you've done on your computer. That way, you can use the
book totally without ever having to print a
copy. Dealing
