Prevention Clinic
Our program is a referral centre for patients across the province of Brithish Columbia. This program was first established in 1980 as the "Lipid Clinic" and has grown to be the largest in Western Canada.
Our purpose is to diagnose and advise treatment for patients with metabolic risk factors for atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), which are disorders of cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism. Services include the assessment and treatment of all risk factors and family screening.
Patient visits include seeing a nurse, dietitian and physician specialist. Follow up visits may also occur at 6 and 12 weeks with memebers of the health care team. Individual education, support and guidance are offered to help patients reduce their risk factors.
Referral must be from your family physician or specialist.
