Chest Pain + Heart Attacks

If the heart muscle is not receiving enough blood, it may cause chest pain or other symptoms. This is a warning to take action. If the blood supply to the heart muscle is blocked for more than 10-15 minutes, a portion of the muscle will die, and cannot be saved. This is called a heart attack. At St. Paul’s we treat hundreds of patients each year for chest pain and heart attacks. Read on for a description of a typical chest pain or heart attack patient’s journey at St. Paul’s.
